World Series Give Aways

I love this kind of story. Jordan's Furniture in Boston ran a sales promotion in the spring that offered a complete rebate on any furniture bought in their store between March and April if the Red Sox won the World Series. The Sox pulled off their end of the deal and now Jordan's is paying off.

Of course, this makes the free taco I am getting from Taco Bell this afternoon seem like no big deal!

SIlver Dollars

I was talking with my grandsons this afternoon about several things I remembered from my childhood. I mentioned the silver dollars my uncle, who was a gambler in the early part of the 1900's used to give me on my birthday. They had never heard of silver dollars and wanted to know more. I went online to show them how pretty the morgan silver dollar are. Those coins were minted from 1881 to 1921.

We looked at the pictures on the web site for Monaco Rare Coins, who keeps a wide assortment of the coins in their inventory. I think I will order one for each of my grandkids for their Christmas stockings!

Real Estate Agent

When I was a young man I thought that I would like to become a real estate agent. I studied for and passed my test for license granted by the State of Texas. I went to work for an agency that represented a home builder. I found that I was not cut throat enough to be really good at the business, so I eventually went another career direction and let my license go.

Digital Cameras

My oldest daughter got so mad at me this summer. I had bought one of those digital cameras about a year ago, and I like the quality of the pictures. But the camera I bought had very little memory, so I could not take many pictures without downloading. But I bought a memory chip for the camera that will allow me to take over 600 pictures without downloading. I took it on a trip to Singapore in August, and failed to take even one picture! My daughter was so upset with me!

Cameo Pools

If I were to move from the humid Gulf Coast to the deserts of Arizona, I would have to have a swimming pool in my back yard! And if I wanted to be sure that I was satisfied with the pool I would seek out the most experienced, most dependable company in the area to build my pool. The good thing is that the most experienced and dependable of all phoenix pool builders is also the one from whom I can get the most up to date designs and materials, even custom water features in the pool! Cameo Pools of Mesa have been building pools since 1977 and have a great customer satisfaction rate!

Love of Horses

My granddaughter is 11 years old now and has been in love with horses for about three years. She began taking riding lessons a few weeks ago and is having a great time.

She constantly talks to her parents about moving to the country so that they will have enough room for her to have a horse of her own. I'm not sure that will ever happen, but my wife and I have decided to give our granddaughter some equestrian riding apparel as her Christmas present.

Memory Store

When I'm on the computer and I like to keep several applications running at one time so I can go back-and-forth very easily. My old Dell needed a better memory in order to function the way I like. I went online to the memory store.com to see if they had Dell Memory that would fit my computer. They did in the purchase was very simple.

World Series Tickets

As I sat and watched the Rockies complete their sweep of the Diamondbacks and saw the excitement of their fans, I was reminded of two years ago in Houston. That was the year that the Astros won the National League pennant for the first time in their history. I had waited for more than forty years for them to accomplish that. What made it all the sweeter was that I had already bought my world series tickets. My wife and I got to see the first ever World Series game played in Houston, or anywhere in Texas!

My paternal grandfather lived in a very small community in northeastern Arkansas. He farmed, raised beagle hounds and game cocks. His roosters were very aggressive, I was afraid when I fed them. Once in a while he would put little "boxing gloves" (he called them duffs) on the spurs of the roosters and would let them fight. It was very intense and fascinating to watch. He never took his roosters to cock fights, but sometimes some guys from Memphis would come over and buy one of Grandpa's prize birds for big bucks.

GPS

Since I heard of GPS devices for the first time, I have thought it would be cool to have one. I could think of all sorts of activities in which I might benefit from having one: while driving, while hunting, while backpacking, while out on the sea fishing, and more. But I had never thought of it the way some of the young professionals at church are using them. They have come to use them as part of a treasure hunting game they like to play on the weekends.

Jewelry

My wife is not the typical woman in regard to jewelryjewelry. She does not wear much, and in our 40 years together I do not believe she has bought any for herself. The few pieces I have bought her, aside from our wedding rings, have been very delicate and elegant. I gave her a nice diamond pendant for our 25th anniversary, and then at 40 years I gave her a strand of pearls. She is easy to please!

Cash Advance

I remember the days when my paycheck did not quite stretch from week to week and how hard it was to make it some times, especially if there was an emergency. The bank did not want to make short-term loans for a small amount of money, so sometimes I borrowed a little more than I wanted for longer than I wanted. Sometimes I would swallow my pride and ask my dad for help until I could get my next pay check and repay his loan.

Nowadays it seems to be a little easier to get a cash advance
for just the amount you want in for just a term you need with payday loans. These loans can be gotten online with a simple process and quick funding to alleviate the problem. And when your paycheck comes in and pay off this loan can be quickly back out from under the debt.

Moose Jaw

It's closing in on mid-October, in some places it's already gotten cool, though not here in South Texas. And while it will not be as cold here as on the North Face of the Matterhorn, it will be cold enough to need warm outdoor gear. And surely it is better to order early and have it on hand than to wait until you wish you had it available. Besides, Moosejaw.com is having a super sale right now!

Ashop Commerce

< I do not have a web site on which I am trying to market either a product or a service on the Internet. But I do shop quite a bit on line and I have some standards of expectation from the sites I visit. I want the merchants I buy form to be reliable and reputable. I want them to offer caring customer service, I want them to look professional, as though they know what they are doing! And I want the site to be easy to navigate with the conveniences that make purchasing as simple as possible.

So if is was going go start a web site, I would want to get all the assistance I could. I would seek the help of Ashop Commerce. I would get them to help me with the solutions I need to compete on an equal footing with the big name companies on the web. I would want their shopping cart software, along with other amenities for my own little store.

Venetian Hotel

My friend's wife has for years told him she wanted him to take her to Venice for a romantic gondola cruise through the canals. He does not make a lot of money, so a trip to Italy is not very likely. But he just made big points with his wife when he took her for an anniversary trip to Las Vegas. They stayed in the fabulous Venetian hotel. They were able to take that authentic cruise down the Grand Canal as recreated in the Hotel! It was a wonderful and romantic weekend!

Conservatory

The home that we bought about 10 years ago is itself about 50 years old. There were several things in such condition that we did not want to go into our retirement years and without getting them fixed. We needed to replace the garage doors on our double car garage, so we added steel doors that should last a lifetime. The concrete in our circle drive at the front of our house and had crumbled and was in very bad shape. It had to be dug up and completely redone. We also replaced the driveway into our garages. We put in replacement windows that will withstand 140 mom and our hurricane winds and also block more of the noise from outside. We replaced the countertops in the kitchen.

One completely new item that we added just for our own comfort sake was with the English call a conservatory. Our old English style house has a Southern exposure on the back and we put in a sun room that would allow us to enjoy the gardens and the sunshine in the morning as we took our coffee, a place where we might go to read and relax. We're very pleased with all the home improvements.
